Investing In Student Success

The Belltower Student Foundation is a student-run organization at Augusta University whose mission is to strengthen the sense of community at Augusta University through philanthropy, civic engagement, and volunteerism. The students who comprise the foundation board are responsible for investing an endowment portfolio and allocating the earnings of that endowment to philanthropic uses across Augusta University and the Augusta region.

History

The Belltower Student Foundation was created in late 2021 with an initial small group of students attending the Medical College of Georgia. The group grew to include more than 30 students across Augusta University and received an initial endowment gift of $500,000 from the Medical College of Georgia Foundation.

Executive Committee

The Executive Committee is made up of 4 officers: Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary, and Treasurer.

Investment

The Investment Committee is responsible for investing and reporting on the Belltower Student Foundation’s endowment portfolio. Students on the Investment Committee learn about nonprofits and endowments, investment strategies, and portfolio management.

Marketing

The Marketing Committee is responsible for marketing the Belltower Student Foundation across Augusta University and the Augusta community, as well as recruiting new students to the board.

Governance

The Governance Committee is responsible for the creation and maintenance of foundation documents, calendars, and databases.

Engagement

The Engagement Committee is responsible for two main functions: 1) planning an annual service project for the entire board to volunteer with a local nonprofit organization, and 2) allocating the earnings of the endowment portfolio to organizations that request funding.
